Condition
Original canvas. There is a fold in the canvas in the upper left corner with associated undulation, two little pushes to the canvas in the upper left corner due to the nail of the stretcher and a further push in the lower left corner, possibly due to an object behind the canvas, but the canvas otherwise appears sound. There is a small scuff to the extreme lower right corner. One or two elements of the impasto are slightly flattened. There are a few very small scattered and isolated flecks of loss, only visible upon extremely close inspection. There are very faint handling marks along the outer edges. There is some surface dirt to the work and some possible discolouration to areas of the white pigment. Subject to the above the work is in very good overall condition.
Inspection under UV light reveals some minor retouching around the extreme edges, possibly due to previous frame abrasion, as well as one or two tiny sensitive retouchings to losses elsewhere.
The work is presented unframed.
