The panel is uncradled and in good condition. The paint surface is secure and clean. Very few, scattered specks of paint loss are visible at the lower left. Inspection under ultraviolet light reveals scattered retouching throughout the composition, with an area of retouching measuring 6 by 4 cm at the top of the right-hand tree, an area measuring 10 by 4 cm at the foot of the same tree and an area measuring 6 by 6 cm at the foot of the two trees at centre left. A narrow band measuring between 0.5 and 1 cm in width, which runs the entire length of the four margins, fluoresces brightly under ultraviolet light. This lot is offered without a frame.
