- oil on canvas, in a painted oval, in a 17th century gilt wood cassetta frame
Condition
The canvas has been relined, the paint surface is dirty and the varnish is discoloured. There is a vertical line running the height of the canvas, about a quarter away from the right margin (visible in the catalogue illustration). Inspection under ultraviolet light reveals retouching to this line and restoration to an I-shaped area in the upper left corner, measuring approx. 2 by 2 cm. There is also a small patch of repaint in the sitter's nose and spot retouching in her lips and cheek. In overall fair condition.
