Condition
The following condition report is provided by Hamish Dewar who is an external specialist and not an employee of Sotheby's: The canvas appears lined. The paint surface has an uneven varnish layer. There is a pattern of craquelure throughout with very small scattered associated paint losses. There is an indentation from the reverse in the upper left with some associated paint loss. Inspection under ultra-violet light shows an opaque and discoloured varnish layer and there is evidence of scattered areas of retouching beneath the varnish layers. Overall the painting is in reasonably good condition. The work is framed.
