Condition
The copper support is flat with only a few minor abrasions at the edges from the frame, and is in excellent condition. The varnish is now a little dull and cloudy but the paint surface underneath appears to be, and probably is, in excellent condition.
The paint surface has developed quite a fine craquelure, especially in the darks, and there appears to have been an effort to mask the effect of this in a thin wash over parts of the dark background. There has been some touching out some wider cracks, for example in the vase and the dark red rose at the top of the composition.
The flowers themselves and their details all appear very well preserved and in tact.
This lot is offered in a gesso and carved gilt wood frame in good condition.
