Catalogue Note
The present lot is an early experimental “Spray” sculpture executed in the 1960s. Bertoia in this sculpture has interpreted the floral references of his surroundings into a tactile and dynamic sculpture. The form is intended to captivate the viewer, encouraging one into the role of participant. Later examples of the “Spray” series were featured in Knoll Furniture showrooms in the late 1960s.
This lot is being offered with a copy of𝄹 the certificate of authenticity from Val Bertoia.
