Description
- An Attic Black-figured Lekythos, attributed to the Class of Athens 581
- terracotta
- Height 18.7 cm.
with spreading foot, concave handle, and echinus mouth, the body painted with Athena in combat with a warrior, both brandishing spears, the warrior falling on one knee and holding a shield, two striding warriors flanking the scene, the one on the right aiming his spear at the goddess, linked lotus buds and dots on the shoulder.

Condition
Repaired across neck. Areas of misfiring. Minor areas of retouching in both black-glazed and red parts. Two vertical scratches below handle on body. Painted scene well preserved apart from losses of white on Athena's face.
