Description
- ink on paper
gouache on paper, 7 lines to the page, written in in neat nasta’liq script in black ink within 4 columns surmounted by an illuminated heading written in blue against a ground of polychrome and gold foliage, reverse with 21 lines of text within 4 columns and an illuminated heading, ruled in blue and gold, framed

Condition
In good overall condition, border with water staining and minor various stains, minor smudges and rubbing to the ink, minor paint loss and slight rubbing to the painting, as viewed.

Catalogue Note
This illustrated leaf comes from a manuscript of Nizami's Khamsa dated 904 AH/1498-99 AD, with twenty five miniatures, although apparently lacking eleven leaves. Five other illustrated leaves were included in sales in these rooms, 28 April 2004, lot 33; 30 April 2003, lots 27 and 28, and 25 April 2002, lots 35 and 36. The original manuscript was sold in these rooms, 11 December 1968, lot 149.
