Description

  • Textile - silk
  • 82cm square
comprised of two joined vertical panels, worked with overall design of blue leaves with red rosettes and yellow and beige flowers, within a four sided border with same motifs

Condition

Colours not as strident as in the image in the printed catalogue, and the ground is a natural linen hue, and the blue and yellow lighter, and generally more attractive subtle colours in reality. This textile is composed of two joined vertical panels, approx. 38/39cm. wide. The join is opening up at the very top. This textile has been applied to a later sage-green cotton backing. It is a slightly misshapen format as visible in photograph. There are some scattered dark spots to the muslin ground. Embroidery in generally very good condition with some losses to the outer highlighting of blue border as visible in the corners in the photograph. Small area of consolidation and loss in bottom-right corner, now stable. Finely worked and with balanced colour and design.
