fragmentary, comprised of two joined horizontal panels, worked in polychrome silks with embroidered ogival shaped motifs with a pair of stylised serrated leaves enclosing flowers, with delicate floral sprays between each motif, on a natural linen ground; altered and reduced in size,

Condition

Colours of the image in the printed catalogue are quite strong, and in reality the hues are more subtle hues and appearance is lighter overall. Comprised of two joined vertical panels, each approx. 26cm. wide, with a terracotta coloured silk backing to complement the original fringing present along the edges as visible in the photograph. There are some losses to the original muslin ground, for example, bottom-left corner and top-left corner, where the linen interlining is visible as a slightly lighter colour. There are some horizontal consolidation stitches stabalising the weak areas of original muslin areas which have been professional executed, small surface marks and areas of discoloration. The original embroidery is in generally good condition with some losses in areas, especially to dark browns which have oxidised, as viewed.
