Catalogue Note

A similar basin in the Nasser D. Khalili collection (inv. no. MTW1242) features a very similar design and its condition gives clues to the original appearance of the present example (see M.J. Rogers (ed.), The Arts of Islam: Treasures from the Nasser D. Khalili Collection, exh. cat., Abu Dhabi, 23 January - 22 April 2008, pp.96-7, no.103). Another comparable is in the Asian Civilisations Museum, Singapore, inv. no. 1999-02705.
