Description

  • brass and silver
of deep rounded form with straight edges, exterior finely engraved with oval cartouches with thuluth inscription between roundels containing alternating figures: a seated enthroned ruler or a horseman hunting, with a geometric scroll band below, remains of silver inlay, the base engraved with later owner’s mark

Condition

In reasonably good condition, some areas of the body oxidised and now with green or red oxide deposits, particularly to interior of basin. Restoration to a thuluth cartouche affecting an area not wider than 13 by 6cm., minor dents consistent with its age mostly around the globular body, as viewed.
