- rock crystal and steel, wood in scabbard
the straight watered steel blade with reinforced cutting-edge and broad back, unusual hilt with rock crystal grips secured by gem-set metal pins sandwiching a metal core, each side with miniature paintings on paper depicting the avatars of Vishnu, leather-covered wood scabbard
Condition
In generally good condition, the blade with minor traces of pitting and oxidisation, the miniatures on paper with remnants of an adhesive substance and minor rubbing with minor losses as well as one stain on one picture, the band between the two rock-crystal grips of hilt probably a later replacement (quality and colour of metal), the scabbard with some wear to leather, one small section near top torn revealing wooden scabbard on underside, gilt-metal mount at tip, old paper collection label, as viewed.
