Description
- steel and aghate & scabbard
the gently tapering watered steel blade with straight flat edge, decorated with gold foliate motifs and inscriptions, the hilt composed of two faceted agate pieces with engraved gilt-brass band in between with hook to top and later hanging ornamental chain with two emeralds, leather-covered wood hilt with two chased silver mounts with floral designs
Condition
In good general condition, the agate pieces with small chips to extremities (one slightly larger near uppermost edge), the hanging emeralds very included, the chappe appears to be a later replacement, very minor oxidisation to blade, the scabbard with some wear, notably a thin crack in leather, traces of gilding on silver mounts, as viewed.
