Description

of rounded form with slightly everted rim, painted in underglaze apple green, blue and relief red, outlined in black, with a central ewer decorated with split-arabesques and foliate stems, amidst a scrolling vine of saz leaves and lotus buds, the rim with scrolls, reverse with abstract motifs

Condition

Intact, colours bright, the surface with extensive pitting, particularly visible to reverse, the border abraded with one small hairline crack, some craquelure to glaze, particularly visible as horizontal lines in glaze on reverse, as viewed.
