Arabic manuscript on paper, 408 leaves plus 2 flyleaves, f.1 loose, 12 lines to the page, written in naskh script in black ink, interlinear annotations in red, colophon giving name of scribe as 'Abdullah' possibly tampered with, verses separated by gold roundels, margins ruled in black and gold, gold and polychrome illuminated devices in the margins, surah headings in white ink against gold ground cartouches decorated with polychrome floral scrolls, double page illuminated frontispiece composed of a thick border of interlacing flowers and split-palmettes emanating blue sprays, the text within white cloud bands reserved against a gold background, morocco binding with gilt rococo decoration, with flap
Condition
In overall good condition, the margins are generally clean, with occasional catchwords in red, a couple of pages with minor repairs to the lower border, occasional water staining and smudges to the ink affecting the end of the manuscript and the colophon, the illuminated frontispiece in good overall condition, one page of the frontispiece is loose, with only minor discoloration of the areas in blue, as viewed.
