Description

of rectangular form, the dark brown leather body with edges in red, the flap and the back each with a red medallion embroidered with an Arabic inscription.

Condition

In reasonable good conditions, the leather with some scratches to the leather, affecting mainly the corners and the area above the medallion on the flap, where these losses show the straw netting below the leather, some losses to the embroidery affecting mainly the panel on the back side. As viewed.

[Belonging] to the virtous al-Shaykh Hasan Efendi, the one served by Peşaveri-zade who is from the people of Medina, one of the Noble Sweeper Guides in the Harem of the Prophet and our agent for the Noble Office of Sweeping [of the Holy Places]. Year 1324 (1906-07 AD).'

On the back: 'By the Grace of May He be Exalted. [Belonging] to Arvasi-zad🎃e al-Sayyid ‘Abd al🦄-Hakim al-Majidi (Abdulhakim al-Mecidi) Efendi, known as the 'Notable of the Noble Elders', from among the Seyyids [descended from] the Two Hasans, resident of the town of Bashkale in the Hakkari district, year 1324 (1906-07 AD).'
