Condition

In good condition, the margins are clean, very few minor stains throughout the text and very occasional rubbing of the ink, the gold and drawings crisp, as viewed.

Catalogue Note

This lavishly illuminated prayer book starts instructing the reader on how to recite the Seven Qur'anic Verses (Yedi Aye) in Turkish, followed by the Prayer of The Blessed (el-Mübarek), the Prayer of Faith (Dua-i Iman), the Prayer for the New Year, the Prayer of the Blessed Name (Ism-i Mübarek), the Prayer of the Noble Command (Berat-i Şerif), the Noble Prayer (Dua-i Şerif), the Prayer of the Great Name of God, the Prayer of the Noble Supplications, the Prayer for Ritual Prayers (Nemaz), the Prayer for the Completion of the Recitation of the Qur'an, the Prayer of the Lord of Forgiveness (Seyyidül-Istiğfar), the Prayer for the Renewal of Faith, the Prayer for the Nation of Islam, the Prayer of Prostration and the Prayer of the Greatest Name.

More prayers follow with explanations in Turkish: the Prayer of Appropriate Behaviour (tertib), Prayer of the Names of the Axes of Religion (ism-i kutublar), Prayers of the Names of God's Friends (ism-i evliyalar), The Noble Prayer (Dua-i Şerif). This is followed by the Narration (rivayet) of Hasan al-Basri and further prayers, including one for toothache and another Noble Prayer.

These are followed by explanations of the preparation of the correct intention for [the recitation] of Surat al-Waqi'a and of the virtues of Sura Ya-Sin; a further Noble Prayer, Noble Supplications, the genealogy of the Prophet Muhammad, and the Prayer for Ramadan.

After this first section of prayers, there is an initial colophon saying that it was written by Khalil (Halil) Fa'iz in the year 1249 AH/1833-34 AD.
