- 66 by 99cm., 26 by 39in.
Provenance
Sale: Koller, Zurich, 28 March 2003, lot 3161
Condition
The canvas has been relined. Ultra-violet light reveals some scattered lines and spots throughout, notably in the sky in the upper left and in the sea in the lower right quadrant of the composition, and some other isolated spots in and around the man's face. These retouching appears to be finely applied and appear to be addressing some thinness. This work presents well and is overall in good condition.
Presented in a decorative gilt frame with a nameplate.
Colours are less warm than in the catalogue illustration.
