each inlaid with jade, ivory, wood, glass and other hardstones to depict a pair of magpies perching on flowering trees issuing from jagged rockwork, all against a yellow lacquer ground, hardwood frames

Condition

As visible in the catalogue photo, there are age cracks to the lacquer. There is a loss to one of the hardstone flowers on the left panel. Other minor losses. Chip to top right corner of the frame of the right panel. Other general surface wear and bruises. Loss to half of a hardstone element in the top border of left panel. Loss to one whole element on border of right panel.
