Condition
Fairly good condition overall with a quite consistent wear to the patina and remains of what could be an old black lacquer. A small casting flaw is visible to the lower edge of the bust. Some oxidation is visible all over the surface. Minor oxidation is visible to the gilt bronze frame.

Catalogue Note
The Italian medallist Francesco Bertinetti, known as François Bertinet, was active in Paris from 1653 to 1686. He worked as a private secretary for Nicolas Fouquet, French Minister of Finance. An identical bronze medallion can be seen in the Cabinet des médailles in Paris and another version is in the V&A museum in London.
