Condition

Overall the condition of the medallion is good with minor chips to the high points and surface dirt consistent with age and handling. There is a vertical hairline fissure across the medallion. The ormolu frame with laurel wreath and ribbon from 19th century can also stand on his foot. Some minor oxidation is visible on the frame.

Catalogue Note

Son of Marc de Beauvau, Prince of Craon and of the Holy Roman Empire, administrator of Tuscany, Juste was appointed colonel of the Lorraine Guards and Governor of Bar-le-Duc. On the death of his first wife, Marie-Sophie-Charlotte de La Tour d'Auvergne, he married Marie-Sylvie de Rohan-Chabot. In 1757 he was appointed knight by Louis XV. He was Governor of the Languedoc, then of Provence and became Marshal of France in 1789. He entered the French Academy in 1771.
