Condition
One slightly lower than the other, probably due to wear of feet. Bases with age and construction cracks, abrasions, small losses and old worm damage. Bases reinforced from underside and redecorated. Coffers with scattered age and construction cracks, with largest cracks approximately 2mm. in width. Scattered dents, abrasions, scattered lifting, losses and scratches and scuffs to vellum. Some losses to gilt tooled decoration. Mounts with some dents, minor bending, rubbing, minor surface dirt and oxidation. Both lacking original interior fittings and lining; one relined the other repainted. In good overall condition.

Catalogue Note
The coats-of-arms depicted on these chests are those of the Priuli and the Cavazzo families. The Priuli family is one of the oldest and most notable noble families of Venice whose members included several cardinals, senators, procurators of San Marco as well as three doges: Lorenzo (r. 1556-59), Girolamo (r. 1559-67) and Antonio (r. 1618-23).
