naturalistically modelled by Johann Joachim Kändler with green plumage picked out in brown; with red or blue wing tips, perched on brown stumps applied with leafy flowers, faint crossed swords marks in underglaze-blue.

Condition

Sotheby's Scientific Research department used noninvasive XRF for this lot to screen the green enamel for chromium, which was not detected. In good condition except: Both with some minor and occasional chips or restored chips to the nails of talons. The one with the yellow head has restoration to its beak, to its tail and tips of wings. There is an approximate 1-inch restored chip to the edge of its base.
