Alexander the Great in a golden chariot drawn by lions surrounded by procession of soldiers carrying war booty and banners and leading prisoners, angels in the sky above, one blowing a trumpet and the other placing a laurel crown upon the Emperor's head, within trompe l'oeil frame border incorporating trelliswork entwined with foliage and interspersed with paterae, the corners with scallop shells.

Condition
Tapestry has a more golden hue overall in reality compared to catalogue. Old lining. Areas of replaced selvage. Good colors with some fading. Restorations throughout all light silk areas. Some losses to silk, particularly in sky areas. Splits and open warps throughout. Portions of re-weaving include 17 inch long by 4 inch wide section at the edge of right border. Entire left border and left hand section of upper and lower borders. Excellent quality.
