Catalogue Note
Founder of the Gruppo N in 1959, Gaetano Pesce got more and more involved with kinetic art, lighting, theatre and cinema after having studied Architecture in Venice. A wide palette of colours and materials has accompanied his work through the years leading up to a period in the 1990s in which his resin- and pigments based work became immediately recognisable. At the heart of this process lies the notion that he is able to mass customize his work, making every single piece unique. “As I’ve always been able to make sauces and creams, I learned very quickly how to mix chemicals and understand their secrets and expressions.”
