Activist and designer Porky Hefer is a prominent creative figure of South Africa. He had worked in advertising for 17 years before starting to sculpt his spaces in 2009 – varying from furniture to hammocks, to public space sculptures. Produced with readily available skills, he embraces his South African heritage and typically works in a bio-mimicry way with more natural materials including leather, wood and straw. He created the collective Animal Farm in 2007.

This woven nest made of kooboo cane and steel reminiscent 🌊of weaver birds` skills is almost completely enclosed, engulfing the individual as if in a cocoon. Porky Hefer creates a holistic experience where the individual becomes temporarily immersed in the raw, down-to-earth material.
