Condition
- Small tears and minor stains appear in the upper left part of the composition, by the frame
- a few wears are visible alongside the borders, probably due to the frame
- a few minor pin holes appear by the borders (barely visible)
- small foxing spots are scattered on the surface
- a few spots in small areas, especially on the cushion, appear to have been restored
- moist spots are visible in the lower left

Famous for his Symbolist paintings that he presents as early as 1896 for the first time in his personnal exhibition at the Galerie Georges Petit, Lévy-Dhurmer receives also numerous commissions for private portraits which he paints in a more classical fashion, such as the Portrait de Georges Dumas (Musée d'Orsay, Paris).
