Catalogue Note

Around 1930, Lucien Lévy-Dhurmer uses his favorite medium to execute this portrait : pastel.
Famous for his Symbolist paintings that he presents as early as 1896 for the first time in his personnal exhibition at the Galerie Georges Petit, Lévy-Dhurmer receives also numerous commissions for private portraits which he paints in a more classical fashion, such as the Portrait de Georges Dumas (Musée d'Orsay, Paris).
