Condition

The work is in its original unlined state. The surface is clean and bright. There are two paper patches adhered to the reverse of the canvas: one at the horizon line to the right of the standing figure and one in the vegetation at lower right; these appear to be douane stamps and do not correspond to any visible retouches. Under UV: broad, brushy dashes of retouching scattered along the extreme edges at upper left and upper center. Smaller isolated areas of retouching at lower left, lower center, and lower right edge.
