Brooch fitting with partial French import assay mark for 18 carat gold, mount with 750 for 18 carat gold and maker's mark. Amethyst purple, transparent, with frosted surface to carving, measuring approximately 32 x 26 x 17mm. Some inclusions surface-reaching, visible to front under magnification. End of nose possibly re-polished. Later mount. Scratches to stone and metal surfaces consistent with wear. In good condition. Brooch fitting secure. Total weight approximately 63.7 grams.
