  • framed flags: approximately 68 by 45cm., 2ft 2in by 1ft 5in.
a composite panel comprising of various small printed silk fragments with national and regimental flags, with printed labels below, including the Union Jack, France, Russia and Belgium in the corners, with various smaller flags around the large Allies Flags in the centre, all sewn together with white thread, and mounted in later glazed frame; together with a polychrome wool needlework sampler, North European, 19th century (glazed frame: approximately 72 by 26cm; 28 by 10in.)

Condition

Printed silk flags, sewn together and placed in later glazed, gilt frame (approximately 68cm high, 45cm wide), with some loose threads to edges of each silk piece. Frame with some chips. Wool sampler: Glazed Frame: approximately 72 by 26cm., 28 by 10in. Each geometric section worked against a bleached canvas, which is visible between these sections and in other areas. Surface stain and distressed canvas in central section. Some losses of wool. Would benefit from being re-mounted.
