Description

  • Jean-Théodore Dupas
  • Panel from the “Chariot of Thetis” Mural from the Grand Lounge of the S.S. Normandie
  • verre églomisé

Provenance

Acquired at the time of the Normandie disassembly, circa 1946
Private Estate, Westchester
Acquired from the above by the present owner circa 1970

Condition

Overall good original condition. The surface of the panel has been recently professionally cleaned, enhancing the luminosity of the work. The glass surfaces with a few very shallow surface scratches consistent with age and gentle handling. There are very minor flake loss nibbles to the top right and left corners. There is also a minor flake loss chip to the lower right corner approximately 1 in x 1/4 in. Overall in our opinion these issues do not adversely affect the overall attractive appearance of the panel. The reverse of the panel appears to be numbered 5.
