Description
- Joaquim Tenreiro
- Pair of End Tables from the Bloch Editores S.A. Building, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
- each with Bloch Editores S.A. metal tags numbered 15509 and 1303
- jacaranda and reverse-painted glass
Provenance
Bloch Editores S.A. Building, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
Condition
Each end table has been lightly cleaned and applied with a varnish. The reverse painted glass tops are possibly later replacements, however in keeping to the original. In reality the rosewood has a rich color and grain - however in the photograph they appear washed out. The table to the right in the photograph has an old/small flake loss glue repair to the lower front edge of the opening approximately 2in x 1/8 in long - this is visible in the catalogue photograph. The cabinet to the left of the photograph has a shallow lip or step to the top and bottom edge of the opening, whereas the rim to the opening of the other cabinet is one continuous level. This design difference is visible in the catalogue photograph. Overall in our opinion the table present well, and each retains a firm structure.
