Condition
Overall in good condition. The silver surfaces with a few minor surface scratches, and evidences of tarnishing concentrated below the upper rim of the vase, consistent with age and gentle handling. The upper rim and lower base with a few minor scattered indentations consistent with gentle handling. The upper part of the base, around the lower part of the body, with a few isolated cracks in the silver, possibly inherent in the making and stable. The enamel work is in good condition, with a few minor losses to two leaves in the upper registrar of the vase. Two of the leaves at mid-height with an area of sensitively undertaken restoration to the upper portion of the leaf, and one of the largest leaf at the bottom, visible on the right of the catalogue illustration, with an area of sensitively undertaken restoration to the lower part of the leaf, in a manner that is consistent with the rest of the enamel work. A very nice example of Knox's work, displaying an elegant silhouette, vivid color and a finely articulated interlaces decoration.
