Description
- A Celtic Revival Mirror
- pewter, enamel, mirrored glass and wood
Condition
Overall in good condition. The pewter presents with a delicate hammered surface treatment, with a few minor and isolated cracks along the edges, inherent in the making. The pewter surfaces with a few surface scratches, minor dents and minor abrasions consistent with age and gentle handling. The enamel decoration presents with very few minor hairlines craquelures, only visible upon close inspection and not at all visually distracting, notably in the upper proper left corner of the upper rectangular decoration. The proper left circular decoration with a small restoration to the proper left, measuring approximately ¼ x ¼ inches, not visually distracting. The mirrored glass has been replaced at some point in the history of the piece and presents with a few minor surface scratches and light surface soiling consistent with gentle handling. The mirror has retained its original wooden back. A beautiful mirror displaying poetic enamel decoration which complements the Celtic-inspired interlaces.
