Condition
Overall condition consistent with age and gentle use. The surfaces with some surface scratches, minor abrasions and surface soiling to the recessed areas consistent with age and use. The piece appears to have been sensitively conserved at some point in its history, including a few areas of infill to the wood, stabilization to the bone elements and parchment. The top of the pedestal with a hairline crack, measuring 5 3/4 in length and a few surface stains to the wood. The edges of the top with a few abrasions, concentrated to the corner, and minor lifting to the brass inlays. The upper part of the pedestal with a few cracks to the maple, all seemingly stable and some of them professionally stabilized. The parchment with areas of wear and surface soiling and a few minor edge losses consistent with age and use. A few disks with horizontal cracks, stable, to the lower portion of the base. Overall the pedestal presents very well with beautiful details in the abalone, bone and metal inlays.
