Description
- George Nakashima
- Pair of "Cushion" Armchairs
- American black walnut and fabric upholstery
Provenance
Commissioned directly from the artist by the present owner, circa 1970
Condition
Overall very good condition. The wooden surfaces with light surface scratches, abrasions, minor dents and minor traces of white house paint consistent with age and gentle use. The outer edge of the proper left armrest of one of the chairs with a few concentrated traces of white house paint. The chairs were reupholstered at some point in the history of the chairs, and each have upholstered backrests. The upholstery with some light wear to the seat and some faint areas of discoloration, not visually detractive. A very comfortable and well-matched pair of chairs.
