Condition

Overall in very good original condition. When viewed in person, the color of the chair is warmer and slightly redder than seen in the printed catalogue illustration, with rich figuring to the elm. The wood surfaces with a few light surface scratches, minor abrasions and light surface dirt consistent with age and gentle use. The seat with a few water stains. The paint on the circles of the back and base appears to be original with light surface soiling and wear consistent with age and gentle use. The bolts and screws all appear original and undisturbed with some oxidation consistent with age. A sculptural work by Rietveld, which has been in the collection of van de Groenekan and the collection of Elaine Lustig Cohen. The wood has acquired a great patina over time.
