Condition

Overall good original condition. There is a ghost mark to the underside of the seat beside where part of the steel leg frame attaches to the underside seat where it appears a clip was screwed to the underside to help secure the leg structure to the seat. There is a screw hole where this ghost mark is located where the clip was secured - when the seat is viewed from the top a small crack is visible where the tip of this screw has slightly split the face veneer of the seat. This crack is slightly obscured by the fact that there are overall scattered age related minor separation surface cracks to the seat. The seat is slightly loose due to the fact that the bolts that attach the base to the shock mounts to the underside of the seat need to be tightened. The steel legs have overall age related oxidation. The glides are all present to the tips of the legs. The face veneers to the rudder support are slightly loose and would benefit from being re-secured - there is also age-related deterioration to the varnish to this leg. The underside of the seat bares the original Sotheby's label from when the stool was originally auction in the Fifty/50 sale in 1993. Overall in our opinion the stool presents well, with good colour and age related patina. This represents a rare opportunity to acquire a scarce model.
