Condition

Overall very good condition consistent with age and gentle handling. The charger presents with minor rubbing to the patinated surfaces, largely concentrated to the center of the charger and slightly visible in the catalogue illustration. With very minor rubbing and scattered oxidation to the underside of the base consistent with age and gentle handling. With minor surface soiling to the recessed areas of the design. When viewed in person, the patinated bronze surfaces are slightly lighter, richer, and present with greater nuance and variation compared to the printed catalogue illustration. This charger has great presence, is highly sculptural, and is executed with refined and artistic detailing. Please contact the department for additional photographs of the work to fully appreciate this piece in the round. An early and whimsical work by Brandt, the charger exhibits great movement and rich patination, demonstrating the artist's mastery of the medium.
