Condition

Overall in very good condition. The wood surfaces present with scattered minor scratches, nicks, shallow dents and abrasions consistent with age and gentle use. The top crossbar of both chairs with minor rubbing which has somewhat lightened the wood and is partially visible in the catalogue illustration. One of the support rods of the backrest of one of the chairs with a shallow dent near its base measuring approximately ½ in., not visually distracting. The seat frame rails of both chairs with multiple minor shallow dents, not visually distracting. The proper right backrest frame of one of the chairs with a scuff located near the feet measuring approximately 2 in. The rubber webbing with slight sagging consistent with age and gentle use yet still supple and exhibiting no signs of cracking. The lot includes two additional cushions serving as backrests not illustrated in the catalogue (four cushions in total). The upholstery of the cushions with minor wear, pilling and a few scattered stains consistent with age and gentle use. Commissioned directly from George Nakashima in 1972, the chairs are offered together with a copy of the original sketch.
