Condition
Overall in good condition. The wood surfaces present with minor scattered surface scratches, nicks and light wear, consistent with age and gentle use. The surface top with a few and minor areas of spotty marks as well as two lines of darker coloration which are visible in the lower left of the catalogue illustration. The table top with several natural hairlines too the wood which have been filled at the time of production, as is common for works by Nakashima. The lower right corner of the surface top in the catalogue illustration with an area of sensitively executed restoration and wood infill (approx 10 x 2 in.) as well as a small stabilized hairline at the edge (approx. 2 in.). These are slightly visible in the catalogue illustration and executed in a matter which is consistent with restoration by the Nakashima studio. The base with a few scattered minor marks, scuffs as well as few shallow indentations to the one bottom corner (appox. 3 ¼ in.), consistent with age and gentle use. Purchased directly from the Nakashima Studio and sold together with a copy of the original sketch, this is a beautiful example with an interesting use of highly knotted walnut.
