Condition

Overall good original condition consistent with age and use. The wrought iron frames with scattered oxidation and wear consistent with age and gentle handling. The alabaster shades with minor scattered scuffs, chips and surface scratches throughout, concentrated to the exterior edges of each. One shade with a loss to one corner measuring approximately ½ x ½ in. A further smaller loss to the rear right proper edge of the same shade measuring ¼ x ¼ in. A triangular area immediately adjacent to this with an older break which has been sensitively and professionally repaired. The central circular area on the inside of each shade have become white and opaque due to heat from the light bulbs, as is typical with this material, a few areas with possible very thin infill. Each shade exhibiting veining throughout, a few of them with a few thin hairline cracks with associated dirt which are consistent with the age of the material and are stable and visible in the catalogue illustration. An iconic and thoroughly modern design that presents very well overall. The light sockets have bayonet fittings. Please note Sotheby's does not guarantee the functionality and/or the voltage compatibility for electrical wiring, and suggests having all electrical components inspected by a licensed electrician.
