Condition

The movement is running at time of cataloging, however it was not tested for the accuracy of time or duration of the power reserve and may need service at the buyer's discretion. Left side case band with some surface scuffing. Some light oxidation overall. Case may benefit overall from light cleaning. Buckle with some scuffing. Perpetual calendar, moon phases, and retrograde date function properly. dial and movement in excellent condition. ***Please be advised that the bands on this watch are made of materials derived from endangered or otherwise protected species (i.e. alligator and crocodile) and thus not sold with the watch, they are for display purposes only. Catalogue Note

Accompanied by a Patek Philippe Extract from the Archives confirming the date of sale on February 15th, 2010. Together with a presentation box with outer packaging. 

Reference 5159 was launched in 2007 as a rediscovery of the legendary Officer's watches. The diameter of the case, which features a dust cover that protects the sapphire-crystal back, is 38 mm – 2 mm 🔯more than its predecessor, reference 5059. The dial has been thoroughly reworked, featuring elongated Roman numerals and a guilloché center.

Patek Philippe has created☂ only a few models with perpetual calendar, retrograde date and sweep seconds: Refs. 5050, 5059, 5159 and 5160.
