The canvas is not lined. Examination under UV light reveals some small spots of retouching towards the centre of the upper edge and a further spot of retouching approx. 3cm. below these. The canvas is very slightly undulating and there is some craquelure visible in places, in particular to the lower left and lower right quadrants. There is some minor pigment loss in places, primarily to the extreme edges. There are further small spots of paint loss towards the upper part of the right edge, to the white pigment to the left of the gate and to the purple pigment towards the upper centre of the composition. This work is in overall good condition.
