Condition
The canvas is not lined. There is a layer of varnish preventing the UV light from fully penetrating, however UV examination reveals small, scattered spots of losses to the varnish in places which fluoresce, including at the centre of the lower edge. There are a few spots of pigment loss towards the right of the upper edge. There is some shrinkage visible in places, primarily to the dark pigment in the lower left corner and the black pigment of the central figure in the crowd. This work is in overall good condition and might benefit from a clean.
