Condition

The canvas has not been relined. When examined under UV light, there is evidence of some retouching to a small 1 in. square area at the neck of the vase, two other small spots at the top right of the table top and also some retouching to the lower right corner. There are two small repairs to the reverse of the canvas with associated retouching to the paint on recto. One is located approx. 4 in. above the glass in the background, the other is to the apple in the plate on the right of the composition. Each is no more than 1/2 in. x 1/2 in. in size. There are minor vertical lines of craquelure evident in the blue background. There are minor paint losses to the upper left edge and the grapes on the center left. There is some light accretion to the surface in the lower right corner. The varnish is yellow and there is surface dirt, the painting would benefit from a clean. The painting is in fairly good condition.
