Catalogue Note
Raja Jagat Singh stands strikingly upright holding a small gold cup. He wears a flowing white muslin pleated jama and ankle-length patka (sash) and brilliant cinnabar-red Rathor pagri (turban). He wears a mauve mala (garland) of blossoms around his neck. His beautifully dressed and bejeweled bride facing him with a matching blossom garland - holding a flask offering another drink of intoxicating liquor - her feet seem to levitate above the strip of dark ground at bottom. A handmaiden holds his sheathed sword and a slender whisk signifying the occasion. The group standing in a formal frieze beautifully composed against a flat apple green ground rising to a blue band of sky.
Laid within buff/natural specked outer border strips of gray-silv♍er floral design wit🌳h inner black ruled lines.
