Catalogue Note
Krishna seated in his chariot receives a brahmin messenger - his finger thoughtfully raised as he listens to the messenger's plea to rescue Rukmini.
On Krishna's command his charioteer Daruka leans into the reins as his four white horses Sa🔯ibya, Sugriva, Meghapushpa and Balahaka swiftly leap forwar🍒d towards Kundinapura, the home of Rukmini. On a curving celadon green ground, the red tinged clouds swirl above in agitation. The composition an interplay of curves and ovals combined with an extraordinarily refined and confident line.
With a red outer border and ruled lines.
