Condition
This work is in good condition overall, taking its age into account. The canvas is unlined and well stretched; slight buckling is present in the upper right corner. The media layer is stable. Frame abrasion and minor associated losses are present along all edges of the canvas, primarily noticeable on the upper and lower edges, as well as the extreme left and extreme upper right edges. Minor spots of paint loss are scattered in the left quadrants of the painting; the most noticeable of these measuring 1/2 inch near the upper center edge. A few fine horizontal lines of craquelure are present in the central quadrants of the painting. Under ultraviolet examination, a 1/2 inch spot of inpainting becomes apparent in the lower left quadrant, in the background.
